Tarawera original abstract oil painting on stretched canvas with charcoal mixed media and real gold leaf

Inspired by the volcanic eruption of Mount Tarawera in 1886 in New Zealand this painting is created using oil paints, tinted shellac, pigments, charcoal and real gold leaf.  
The painting is layered and textured and sealed with a semi gloss acrylic varnish.
Painted on a stretched cotton canvas. Unframed. Tarawera is part of the Contemporary Rituals series.
